Sometimes it's really awesome to ski as well as I do at such a small resort in such a small town. Like those times when people I barely know give me a discount on ski maintenance. That had to have been a combination of reputation and connections because it certainly wasn't our long history of close friendship. Pretty cool.

I made a quick trip down the river with my dad today. Apparently black was the theme:

• There were swarms of dragonflies (or damselflies -- I can't tell the difference). So many that I actually whacked more than one with my paddle.

I watched a woman get out of her bumper sticker covered car and saw her labrys tattoo and realized that festival is getting closer. We don't see to many festies in my area, but this woman just had that look about her. We (the kitchen staff) slid out the back last night and watched the fireworks. I've never seen anything so cool. My community's show is usually pretty mediocre but last night there was lightning and a touch of thunder in the background -- just amazing. I now have cable internet. No more dial-up. The only way I could be happier is if I found out that ice cream is actually just as healthy as cauliflower.

It's pretty cool that when a seventy-five year old woman from Alabama comes to visit we gather at the bar to meet her. She met and exceeded my expectations and seemed to be having a fine time herself. Didn't take off her heavy jacket though, despite the fact that we do of course heat the place ( Read more... )

Several raccoons were just scratching at the door. I opened it up to get a better look and they backed off a few feet. The came closer as I stood there but didn't come in. This is probably a good thing because how on earth would I have gotten them out?
